Youth

“And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon him” Luke 2:40

The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd seeks to actively engage our teen community in activities and instruction that draw them into a deeper relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Our Youth program invites 7th through 12th graders from all backgrounds and schools to foster community in worship, service, study and fellowship. Centered on age appropriate instruction that is relevant and challenging, our programs provide a safe place for teens to experience the unconditional love of God. Youth Ministry at the Church of the Good Shepherd is designed to advance the formation of the child’s mind and heart into a mature Christian disciple.

The Good Shepherd Youth Ministries present a number of programs to welcome, feed, and nourish both the seeker and the disciple.  We strive to help our youth fulfill the Baptismal promises they made at their Confirmation, and grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are an open, welcoming community with over seventy youth and twenty adult volunteers who participate in our Youth programs.  Following Confirmation in the sixth grade, youth are invited to come to our Youth House (518 Park Avenue, at the corner of Park and Carancahua) for various programs throughout the school year and summer months.

For additional information, or ways that you (or your youth) can get involved, please contact the Church Office at 361-882-1735.

God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
