World Mission

“So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers.” (1 Corinthians 3:7-9)

The Church of the Good Shepherd takes seriously the Great Commission, where Jesus commands his disciples to go into all the world and make disciples. We are a church of compassionate, dedicated missionaries whose joy is to take the love of Christ across the world to the disenfranchised, oppressed, uneducated and the suffering. As a leader, not only in the Diocese of West Texas, but across the nation as well, the Church of the Good Shepherd has created new opportunities, supported established missions, and opened lines of communication and fellowship for future missions, around the world. Our parishioners have been active ministers to people in Mexico, Honduras, Haiti, Uganda, Belarus and India, to name a few. They have preached the Gospel to orphans, brought clean water to remote villages, provided medical care to the extreme poor, and established schools for children. Most importantly, the ministry of encouragement and love has been extended to our Christian brothers and sisters who often bear a weightier burden than we do. Some choose to participate by contributing financially. Others pray for our missions and missionaries. Others go. All are blessed. We all have an active role as missionaries to the world.

The Church of the Good Shepherd is blessed to be integrally allied with the World Mission Department of the Diocese of West Texas, who takes an active and primary role in developing, promoting and sustaining world mission opportunities.
